Module Reflection (Week 12)

Hello everyone, time flies so fast that finally I come to this last post on my blog for Creative Thinking module. At the beginning, I felt like this module won’t give any lessons on myself, but what actually happens is the opposite. I learned how to be more keen to environment around us, think more critically, break the rules, using mindmap to summarize something, or even relating and connecting something to another.

The journey on week 1 was quite essential to be creative, as we need to take attention to everything around us. By getting inspiration from environment around us, we can put those inspirations in our mind so that we will become more creative. Thinking critically is also important, as it taught me to think deeper on the way to do something, as what I’ve done in the week 2 with my group. I also find out that creative people oftenly break the rules, as I was doing research on artists who broke the rules.

Using mindmaps also can be applied in order to summarize something so it will be more easier to learn or read. Marshmallow challenge in week 6 also teaches us how to have a good teamwork when doing something. In analogical thinking about promoting a new coca cola product, I learned to be more creative to promote something. Forced connection also taught me that everything can be related, if we relate them in the proper way.

After all, thank you very much for my lecturer who has given us the lessons about creative thinking. I will apply what I’ve got in this module to things that I will face in the future.

Forced Connection (Week 11)

Hi there everyone! This time we are going to discuss about 3 topics which is forcing us to connect or combine things to another. The first two topics were done in groups and the third was done individually.

The first topic is about new food combines, which makes a new food by combining the other as the ingredients. In this topic, we made some interesting food with mixed ingredients. Let’s have a look on the food that we made.

This is a new food which is a combination from a bun, steak, and nasi lemak. As you can see the bun, it is grilled and the texture becomes like a steak. There is nasi lemak waiting inside the bun, which makes the bun totally delicious.

The other food is also a bun. However, it contains capuccino so when we bite the bun, we will taste how delicious it is.

Last food, it is a big burger which consists of rice, egg, tomato sauce, and steak. The rice becomes the top and bottom layer of the burger. The other ingredients are put inside.

The second topic is about making a flossing tool which can make flossing become more fun.

We made the tool with a violin grip concept. The string in the grip has a censor which triggers a music to play whenever it is rubbed with something. We can put the USB at the bottom of the grip to insert the music that we want to play. So we can floss our teeth with music sounds!

The third topic is to depict an object with different adjectives/emotions. There are 6 objects that I’ll choose 1 later on and 12 adjectives/emotions that I must combine with the object. I have to draw the combination between the object and each of the 12 adjectives/emotions. Let’s take a look on the list.

Object : cup, candle, pencil, computer mouse, clock, plug
Adjective/emotion : passionate/dull, sad/happy, brave/cowardly, creative/unimaginative, greedy/generous, hardworking/lazy

The object that i chose was clock and these are the combination with the emotions:

This is a passionate clock because of its excitement by its ringing in order to show the time

This could be called as a creative clock by seeing from its swirling pattern and bright light from the middle, depicting ideas that coming out from the brain

This is a generous clock because this clock doesn't give any time limitations, such as numbers. It also forms like an "infinity" symbol

It's a hardowrking clock because the shape is strict and the numbers are like tasks that need to be passed

Overall, thank you for your attention and hope you enjoy this topic!

Analogical Thinking (Week 10)

Hello I’m back again everyone! How’s it going? This time I will have a discussion about coca cola new product which contains more oxygen inside it. We were grouped into teams and ordered to make posters to promote this new product. My team was Me, Winny, Kai Ting, and Farah. However, we are supposed to write 4 aspects of oxygen while we are working on the poster.

These are the 4 aspects :
1. Basic Characteristics : Airy, Jumpy, Free, Fast, Smooth, Light, Invisible/Transparent
2. Emotions : Free, Feel Important, Pure/Clean, Necessary, Excited, Like a Boss
3. How Someone Feels While Using Oxygen : Happy, Energetic, High, Feel Alive, Fresh, Fast                    Reaction, Awesome
4. How It Feels Like Being Oxygen : Bubbly, Fly, Light, Fragile, Afraid, Universal

We made 2 posters in this project. The first poster is mostly blue-colored. Because oxygen is made from water, and we think that water is identical with blue color so we decided to design the poster with blue background and blue can. We put the coca cola logo in the middle and we didn’t change it because if we did, people won’t believe that it’s the real coca cola. We also give an “O2” type behind the logo.

First Poster

The second poster is made with a red background, knowing that red colour is attractive to both young and old people. We also made it with a plenty number of bubbles popping out of the can because oxygen will be looked like bubbles if we put it inside of water. People will know that the coca cola drink is very oxygenated. There are also bubbles in the middle of the can, depicting the coca cola logo.
Second Poster
Ok, that's all of my discussion about this topic, and I'll see you next time!
